This Oakland whole-home remodel began with a family who loved their home but knew the layout was no longer keeping up with their lifestyle. Working with Canyon Design Build, we created a retro style design that supported the way their family actually lives while staying true to the home’s original character.

The kitchen remodel introduced a more open flow with a dine in island that quickly became the center of family activity. Storage was expanded and reorganized so the kitchen finally worked the way they needed it to, and the new layout created easier movement between the cooking, dining, and backyard spaces. The Wolf range sits on its own peninsula surrounded by upper glass door cabinets and light green Porcelanosa tile, and the bright marble countertops help reflect light throughout the room.

The bathroom remodels carried that same balance of function and personality. Clean, modern lines were paired with playful retro accents and improved everyday usability. A new mudroom off the kitchen added practical storage and helped keep daily clutter organized, giving the family a smoother transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.

To maximize their outdoor area, the small underused garage was converted into a flexible game room with a wet bar setup. It is a space designed for togetherness, with finishes that feel fresh but still connected to the main house. The family can rotate games and activities as their kids grow, which was a core part of the vision from the start.

Throughout the project, the remodel focused on thoughtful updates that honored the home’s charm while improving function and comfort.
