The Ruth Bancroft Garden and Nursery – Walnut Creek

We worked with the Foundation over many years to plan, budget, design, and ultimately build, this multipurpose event and office complex that is nestled amongst a magical garden. To complement the desert plants, we used Corten Steel to clad the exterior, offset by the large wooden barn doors. The pitch of the roof evokes the feeling of a barn that speaks to the history of the site as a working farm. With exposed steel, clean drywall, and polished concrete, the interior has a warm modern feeling while being a very practical space. This project was in collaboration with Ron Lutsko, principal of Lutsko and Associates Landscape Architecture.
